Helping English speakers sound more French – by showing them exactly how to shape French sounds.

So they can speak with clearer pronunciation, sharper listening skills, and real confidence.

Most people are taught how to speak French through osmosis – by listening and repeating.

But here’s the problem…

You can’t always hear French sounds until you know how to make them.

That’s why my approach is different.

I show you exactly what your mouth and tongue need to do – so you can shape, say, and then hear French sounds clearly.

If you’ve ever felt like you should be able to hear or say certain sounds… but just can’t – you’re in the right place.

Want to learn how to sound more French?

Do you feel like…

  • you should be able to hear the differences in some sounds… but can’t?

  • your pronunciation lets you down when you speak?

  • people reply in English – even when you try your best and despite months or years of studying?

  • You’re not alone! I have been in your shoes and I want to share with you the tools I used to reach near native-speaker pronunciation.

You can’t always hear French sounds…until you’ve learnt how to make them.

Learning French takes time – but struggling with pronunciation isn’t something you just have to accept.

Because here’s something most people aren’t told…

You can’t always hear certain French sounds until you understand how they’re physically made.

Even after completing a degree in French, I discovered I couldn’t reliably hear – or pronounce – the difference between sounds like “u” and “ou.”

I thought I was getting it right… but I wasn’t.

Everything changed when I stopped relying on “just listening and repeating” and started focusing on what my mouth and tongue were actually doing.

By linking:

  • sounds to spellings
  • sounds to mouth and tongue positions
  • and practising little and often

I began training my pronunciation from the inside out. I trained my slack English-speaking mouth to start working like a French one!

At first, I could make the difference before I could fully hear it.

And then, over time – with consistent, intentional practice – my ear caught up.

And that’s when everything shifted…

I was understood more easily.
My confidence grew.
And I actually started to enjoy speaking French.

The more I spoke, the better I became – a true cycle of success.

That’s when I realised something powerful:

When it comes to be understood by native speakers, good pronunciation often matters more than perfect grammar.

And it’s exactly this approach that I now share with my students.

A clear, practical method to help you feel, say, and hear French sounds – so you can finally sound more natural and confident.

If you’re not always understood, I know exactly how that feels — because I’ve been there too.

I can’t wait to share the techniques that helped me transform my own French pronunciation.

And if I can do it… so can you.

It’s not about sounding exactly like a native speaker.

In fact, for most adult learners, that’s simply not a realistic goal – and that’s absolutely fine.

What does matter is being understood.

Because when your pronunciation improves, everything changes…

You don’t have to repeat yourself.
People respond naturally.
Conversations flow more easily.

And speaking French starts to feel good.

You don’t need a perfect accent.
But you do need pronunciation that is clearly understood.

Clarity over perfection. Always.

What learners are saying…

“It’s so wonderful to see and hear others progress. Being able to chat in the relaxed environment is a golden opportunity each week”

Rose Guild

“It’s great fun, Frannie is the best, most supportive teacher, you won’t be made fun of when you get it wrong (as we all do from time to time) and it’s encouraging to learn alongside others and share experiences. In addition – the regular ping of my in-box is a stimulus to keep on learning! Thanks Frannie – you’re great! you clearly have a vocation and we’re all benefitting from it!!”

Bob Ward

“Such a supportive community with the wonderful Frenchesca Fleming leading us through our French learning journey. My confidence in speaking French since joining the group has come on leaps and bounds.”

Madeline O'Halloran

“In the year that I have been a member of Frannie’s groups I have built on my basic French. Members of the group have been very supportive, a trait engendered by Frannie herself. Now I don’t hesitate to converse with locals, nor fear the dreaded phone convo! My eureka moment was recently in A+E being interviewed by the Doctor. Several exchanges later when he was passed my triage notes he exclaimed “Ah vous n’êtes pas Francais!” YAY!!”

Chris Osborne

“I was feeling frustrated by my lack of confidence speaking French and feeling that many real-life scenarios were out of my reach when I am in France, simply because I can’t make myself understood. You bring humour and ease to classes which makes learning relaxing and enjoyable. I’m really appreciating the gentle way you are building my knowledge…I love your humour and energy.”

Lucy Whitehall

“The class on “RE” was amazing. I still have more to learn and practice, however, I am on my way to better pronunciation because of the way you teach. You have a unique way of tapping into our brains and helping us understand and remember. You are a talent.”
