Don’t Hang Up! – Speak French on the Phone Confidence Course

From call avoidance to call confidence.

Learn to speak French on the phone calmly and naturally.

Many French learners can manage conversations face-to-face… but the moment the conversation moves to the phone, everything suddenly feels much harder.

No gestures.
No facial expressions.
No lipreading.

No ressuring smiles

Just you – and the voice at the other end.

In this practical, recorded, self-led course, you’ll learn the expressions, listening skills and strategies that will help you handle French phone calls calmly and confidently.

  • bite-sized video lessons, most under 15 minutes
  • PDF worksheets & roleplays to download
  • Cheatsheets to help you make and answer real-life calls
  • Learn at your own pace, when & where it suits you!
  • Just $80

Be honest…

If your phone rang tomorrow and the voice on the other end spoke French, would you feel calm – or slightly (!) panicked?

Would you…

  • Rather drive somewhere to speak face-to-face instead of speaking French on the phone?

  • Avoid answering?

  • Write a full script beforehand?

  • Feel your anxiety spike at the mere thought of speaking French on the phone?

  • Simply avoid it altogether?

Oui ?

Honestly, that makes sense.

When you speak French on the phone, you lose all your safety nets.

This what makes us feel anxious…

Why speaking French on the phone feels hard…

French phone calls aren’t harder because your French is “bad”.

They feel harder because you need a specific skillset:

  • How to start the call naturally

  • How to ask someone to repeat

  • How French numbers actually work

  • How to spell clearly

  • What to say if the line is bad

These are practical French telephone expressions and strategies that most learners are never explicitly taught.

The good news?

You can learn to speak French on the phone with more confidence.

It’s a skill.
And skills can be learned.

Salut, I’m Frannie!

I help English speakers sound more French and feel more confident when speaking.

Over the years I’ve worked with hundreds of learners who can understand French perfectly well… but freeze when it comes to certain real-life situations. Speaking on the phone is one of the most common challenges I hear about.

I focus on the practical skills that make the biggest difference in everyday communication – pronunciation, listening confidence, and knowing what to say in real-life situations.

In my classes, I create a relaxed and friendly learning space where you feel comfortable having a go and practising out loud – without worrying about getting everything perfect.

Salut, I’m Judith !

Many of you will already know me from the Sound More French Café, where I run The Confidence Café as the membership’s Confidence Companion.

I have a Masters degree in French (Interpreting and Translation), and have lived in France for the past 13 years with my French husband and our bilingual children. Through daily life, family life and work, I developed a deep understanding of how French is used in real-world situations.

I teach group French classes alongside Frannie and support learners inside the Café as they build the confidence to speak more freely.

I had such fun developing this course with Frannie and I am looking forward to seeing you in our Skool community where you’ll find this super practical (and life-changing) course!

If you needed to make a phone call tomorrow…

Would you still want to drive miles to avoid it?

Or, would you love to be able to calmly pick up the phone and say:

Bonjour, [Your Name] à l’appareil…

What previous students have said…

“I loved it, you have a friendly, relaxed and very clear style which is very understandable. It was a really nice way to spend three (maybe nearer 4) hours of a weekend! All the other students were lovely and friendly as well (which helps)… Group work can be a bit nerve wracking when working with people you’ve never met before – but it was great.”

Bob Ward

The 3 main benefits were…”First is getting the useful phrases. Two was practicing the numbers – that was fantastic!! And I love that you only concentrated on the hard and confusing numbers! That was a big help. And then a BIG thing I didn’t know what the alphabet and using the set, accepted names (half of which I’ve never heard of before lol). I have printed this out- very very useful.”

Deb Hydon

“Firstly, many thanks for a fabulous workshop.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot.  Here is my feedback…

The things I found particularly useful were:

  1. The Alphabet Section with names to match the letters.
  2. Automated phone message examples
  3. Practising the higher numbers at speed was extremely useful.

Once again, thank you for a fantastic workshop, and I look forward to doing more.”

Judi Regan

I absolutely hate talking on the phone in English, let alone French…I also hate using Zoom…so I had to step out of my comfort zone to do this workshop. But you made it so easy and relaxed, I would happily do any other Zoom workshops with you having experienced this one…I would encourage anybody to make the leap and attend a workshop, even if they don’t feel confident with the subject matter or technology…It’s a great workshop and I would recommend it to anybody.
