Meet Frannie
My name is Frannie and I have been helping people on their path to French fluency for over 20 years. I am a qualified teacher (BA Hons, PGCE, QTS) and mother to two bilingual, adult children. Although, I live in the UK, I have lived and worked in France, I know exactly what it feels like to be thrown in at the deep end!
Moreover, I know what it feels like to not fully understand what is being said and how frustrating it is when you think that others are unable to understand you. In the past, I have struggled to find my French voice, and I know how difficult it can be to find the courage to just go for it!
In a previous life, I worked for a marketing company taking calls from France for a major player in the travel industry. I guess I learnt a thing or two about speaking French on the phone as I did it all day! In these workshops, you will get all my top tips for making speaking French on the phone a lot less daunting, and maybe even a little enjoyable!
I do not know everything (who does?!), and every day I delight in learning something new in French! I would like to share with you what I know, so that you may get to the same point a little quicker than I did!
The Everyday French Telephone Expressions Workshops
In these workshops, you will learn how to speak French on the phone without fear (or certainly less of it!).
What you can expect:
A fun, relaxed, pressure-free and supportive learning zone delivered via Zoom with plenty of interaction and opportunity to practise the language.
We will work as a whole group, but also in small groups for more focused discussion and role-plays.
Over the two days, we will cover –
- General phone-related vocabulary
- Casual and formal expressions to help you make calls and answer the phone with confidence in different social/work situations.
- Expressions that you can expect to hear when you call other people and how to respond to them.
- Mastering the French alphabet and numbers 0-99.
- Spelling out loud and responding to others spelling out words.
- Top tips for noting down and saying French numbers with minimal overwhelm.
- Responding to automated messages and leaving messages on answer phones.
- Dealing with telephone problems.
You will be provided with a course handout with all the key vocabulary and expressions covered in the workshops as well as space for your notes.
I will also send you some useful charts that you can use to make life easier every time you have to make an important phone call in French.
